The Ogun State High Court sitting along Kobape-Abeokuta dual carriage road has again adjourned a land dispute case with suit number AB/235/2025 involving, a Chinese Company, Zhi Yuan Global Nigeria Limited and some indigenes of Owu Adepiti Village located in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The case which was earlier adjourned to February, 16, 2026 for hearing over two months ago was brought before the trial judge at court five on Monday, where both counsels of both parties explained each side of their argument to the court.
The claimants who are indigenes of the community as well as some other residents/indigenes said to be defendants alongside the Chinese Company, Zhi Yuan Global Nigeria Limited were also in court
At the resumed sitting on Monday, Justice A.O. Asenuga struck out, without opposition, a motion filed by counsel to the first to third defendants seeking to remove the name of the third defendant from the suit.
The claimants, had initially opposed the application, however, later informed the court that they had no objection, and thereafter, the trial judge adjourned till March 16, 2026 for further mention of the case.
After the proceedings the counsel to the defendants, M.E Kolapo was contacted by journalists, but declined comment, however, the counsel to the claimants, Venerable Sunday Olabode, explained that a motion to regularise the processes had been properly filed and served on all parties.
The claimants defence counsel told journalists that the claimants had filed the required critical documents alongside their pre-trial conference forms on the issues formulated for the court’s determination.
Olabode emphasised that if no further applications were filed before the next adjourned date, the court was expected to fix a date for the pre-trial conference, after which the matter would proceed to full trial.
