Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Waidi Shuaib, says the Army has executed over 300 projects across the six geo-political zones of the country.

He stated this during the inauguration and handing over of the Chief of Army Staff Special Intervention on Civil-Military Cooperation project, where a block of two classrooms and staff offices was constructed.

The project, sited at Government Secondary School, Palladan, in Sabon Gari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, was executed by Maj Gen Abubakar Haruna, Commandant, Nigerian Army Training Centre, Kontagora, as a way of giving back to his community.

The COAS, who was represented by the General Officer Commanding 1 Division, Kaduna, Maj Gen Abubakar Sadiq Wase, noted that the projects were specifically designed to give back to society, which he described as critical partners in progress.

He said, “Accordingly, these projects were carefully conceived and executed in close consultation with the benefitting communities to ensure relevance and impact.

“It is also pertinent to note that all these efforts are intended to complement the efforts of the state government by providing quality basic amenities and infrastructure to improve the living standard of the benefitting communities.

“The projects were envisaged to significantly enhance the educational well-being of the indigines and other residents of the community for years to come. And it is a token of appreciation to the communities that have produced some of the finest officers serving in the Nigerian Army.”

Earlier in his remarks, Maj Gen M.A. Etsu-Ndagi, Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, Army Headquarters, represented by his deputy, Col Y. Amaka, said the occasion forms part of the Nigerian Army’s effort to entrench a whole-of-society approach to achieving national security objectives.

“As an Army, we understand that public cooperation and support remain a critical factor for the success of our military operations. Hence, the Nigerian Army continues to explore non-kinetic lines of operations to strengthen relations and collaboration with the civil populace.” he said.

Etsu-Ndagi appreciated the community’s goodwill and encouraged them to continue supporting and partnering with the Army to jointly tackle banditry and other related crimes.

The initiator of the project, Maj Gen Abubakar Haruna, said the project executed in the school was to complement comfortable teaching and learning for the future of the younger generation.

He applauded the support of President Bola Tinubu and the Chief of Army Staff, whose efforts facilitated the project.
