Umar Faruk, Gusau
Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has called for caution in participating in the planned nationwide protest because it is likely to be hijacked by hoodlums.
A statement issued by the APC spokesman, Yusuf Idris Gusau said that leadership of the party at various levels met with the National Chairman of the party, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in Abuja over the impending protest.
“So I find it very imperative to lend our party’s voice to make this call due to the insecurity situation bedevilling our dear state of Zamfara and the need for Nigeria’s stability as one united nation”, he added.
According to him, there’s likelihood of criminals who have continued to make life highly unbearable for the people to take over the protest and making the security situation worse.
He called on the people of the state to have second thought and think wisely to avoid wanton destruction of the country in the name of protest.
“Most of the countries that carried out such protests in the past are now experiencing more difficulties than what caused the protest”, he warned.
He cited counties like Sudan where the people protested over the hike in bread price, but are now buying bread at five times the cost before the protest.
He recalled that a lot of the country’s citizens’ properties, government infrastructure, businesses and health facilities were all destroyed with many people rendered homeless and turned to refugees within their country and its neighbours.
