…party leaders vow to unite women across 19 northern states for 2027 victory

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Women’s Leadership Group in Northern Nigeria has resolved to unite women across the region in a bold political movement aimed at securing the presidency for the party in the 2027 general elections.

The resolution was reached at the Expanded Northern Consultative Women Leadership Meeting of the ADC held yesterday in Abuja. The gathering drew influential female leaders from across the North to strategize on grassroots mobilization, political education, and women’s increased participation in governance.

Addressing the meeting, Mrs. Naomi Lasara Abel, the ADC National Women Leader, described the ADC as “the only credible alternative to the ruling party.”

According to her, the ADC has demonstrated genuine commitment to inclusion by giving women and youth key opportunities in leadership.

> “This is clear evidence that our party stands firmly with the younger generation of Nigerians who are ready to lead the nation to greatness,” she said.

Mrs. Abel called on northern women to close ranks, unite behind the ADC, and take active roles in shaping the party’s victory strategy ahead of 2027.

Chairing the session, Mrs. Zainab Boni Haruna and Coordinator Hajia Bilkisu Mohammed Onusagba led discussions on political empowerment, capacity building, and women’s representation at all levels of government. They reaffirmed their confidence in the ADC’s national leadership and commitment to democratic inclusion.

In her goodwill message, Mrs. Hellen Onma Mark, wife of the ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark, commended the women leaders for their foresight and resolve.

> “What we are witnessing today is the awakening of women’s political power in Nigeria,” she said. “The ADC believes that when women rise, nations prosper. This movement is not just about elections—it’s about restoring integrity, competence, and compassion to leadership through the collective strength of Nigerian women.”

Also in attendance were Alhaji Adamu Maina Waziri and Distinguished Senator Dino Melaye, who both applauded the women’s mobilization drive. They urged them to work diligently for the success of the party, emphasizing that women remain the backbone of political mobilization and grassroots influence in Nigeria. Both leaders pledged full support to the ADC Women Leadership Group’s mission to unify northern women and push the party to victory.

Participants reaffirmed their loyalty to the ADC’s ideals and vowed to strengthen the party’s structures across the 19 northern states and the FCT in preparation for the 2027 elections.
