… says ‘it’s handiwork of desperate politicians’
A stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo state, Paul Osagie on Wednesday, flayed ‘Benin palace demolition’ rumour being promoted by the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a handiwork of desperate politicians.
He said the Governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki and Asue Ighodalo, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the September election, hold Benin palace museum in high esteem and would continue to do their best for the place.
Osagie in an interview with select journalists, said APC supporters should focus on selling their candidate and not maligning the good work of PDP led administration in the state.
He asked members of the opposition to show the public evidence of the demolition plan or hide their heads in shame.
The PDP chieftain said undermining Obaseki and Ighodalo, who are lovers of Edo’s cultural heritage by the APC is an indication of desperate tactics being fronted to thwart the good programmes and policies of the current administration.
According to him, Obaseki is a leader that has been contributing positively to the good of his people, which calls for commendation and not condemnation.
He called on the opposition APC not to be using Oba of Benin’s name to campaign.
Osagie said, “APC should steer clear of Oba of Benin, Oba is one of the well respected monarchs, he is not a politician, using his name for cheap popularity by desperate politicians is wrong, it is time to call such Politicians to order.
“Why dragging a reverend monarch into the dirty waters of politics? It is wrong for APC to be mentioning demolition of a cultural heritage.
“The good people of Edo should steer clear of APC, the party’s desperation is a signal that is a bad product”
