RasRis Foundation unveiled in Ogun, distributes food items, cash gifts to widows, orphans, others

Succour came the way of many less privileged yesterday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, as a new Non- Governmental Organization – Rasak and Risikat Oyewusi Foundation, otherwise known as RasRis Foundation, distributed food items to the needy to cushion the effects of economic hardships.

The needy including widows, widowers, orphans, elderly, and children whose parents were unable to send them to school received food items such as rice, garri, beans, cash gift and school uniforms, among others, from the foundation with a promise to launch flagship in months time to give out scholarships and engage youth in vocational training as well as empowering them with working tools.

While unveiling the foundation at Oke Ola Community, Kuto, Abeokuta, the Chief Imam of Masjid Alhaqq, Oke-Aregba, Barr. Abdulateef Basheer and a Lecturer at Bola Ajibola College of Law, Crescent University, Abeokuta, urged participants to set up a foundations to cater for less privileged as the founder and siblings did to honour their late parents.

Imam Basheer, who called on donors at the gathering to support the foundation with funds to fulfill its mission for the less privileged, said that was not better ways to honour deceased parents than to assist the needy in the community in remembrance of them.

The Founder, Mr Saheed Oyewusi, said he established the foundation to honour his late parents for their efforts in raising him and his siblings to be successful in life, saying that the aim of the foundation was to cater for the needs of the vulnerable particularly old men and women, as well as widows, widowers and orphans in Kuto community and its environs.

Oyewusi, said that the food items including rice, beans, garri, cash gift among others was given to the less privileged to reduce the effects of economic hardships on their living conditions and put smile and laughter on their faces, insisting that government cannot solve problems of every citizens except individuals come together to assist one another.

He said “It is with immensely pleasure that we welcome you to the unveiling the Rasak & and Risikat Oyewusi(RasRis)Foundation, and I will like to extend my special thanks to my family, team colleagues, and all those who have supported us. The RasRis Foundation is dedicated to my late father and mother, Alhaji Rasak Isola Oyewusi and Risikat Abeniade Oyewusi.”

“The mission and purpose of the foundation is to bring back hope for the hopeless, assisting the widow and widower, elderly person and supporting education for less privileged children, our vision is to create standards of living for hopeless where ever child has access to quality education, vocational training and opportunities to reach their full potentials.”

“In a nation facing numerous challenges, the RasRis Foundation aid to address the critical needs for widow and widower and vocational training for less privileged children. In months to come we will be launching our flagship programme in vocational training to engage our youth in hand work and empower them.”

“We also planed to expand our reach by establishing partnership with government and and offering scholarships we deeply grateful for generosity and support is from our donors because without you this foundation will not be possible, we invite you to join us in our mission to become a part of RasRis Oyewusi Foundation. We are exited about the journey ahead to look forward to making positive influence in the lives of our people” he added.

Head of the Family, Mr Monsuru Oyewusi, thanked the participants and dignitaries as well as donours for attending the launching of the foundation.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Oluwaseun Sunday, a widow, thanked the organizers of the foundation for the kind gesture bestowed her and others, praying that Almighty Allah would continue to bless them abundantly
