Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, on Sunday, challenged governments at all levels to go the extra miles in addressing the current hardship in the country.
The Sultan, who stated this in his Sallah sermon shortly after observing the two units Eid prayer at the Fakon Idi, expressed regrets that Nigeria is grappling with a lot of challenges, while its citizens are facing untold hardship.
The monarch said more needs to be done to alleviate the suffering of the Nigerian people.
Sultan Abubakar also called for concerted efforts aimed at addressing the current security challenges in the country, noting that no meaningful development could be achieved without security.
“Leaders must be God fearing and must work to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the governed,” he said
He advised Nigerians to be peace-loving and patriotic.
The Sultan further urged them to continue to support and pray for the success of the leaders.
