As Nigeria marks the 2024 Democracy Day, some protesters, on Wednesday morning, converged under the Ikeja bridge in Lagos.
Armed policemen and operatives of the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps, however, maintained tight security at the venue.
The crowd of protesters, carrying placards and banners, chanted solidarity songs.
The inscriptions on some of the placards read, ‘President Tinubu, let the poor breathe’, ‘For another general strike with mass protest now’, ‘Payment of living wage to all Nigerian workers now.”
