The Healing Heart Foundation, a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), has distributed food items to some widows in Lagos, to put smiles on their faces during the Yuletide.
The President of the NGO, Mrs Sophy Mbanisi, made this known during the 2024 end of the year party celebration organised by the NGO on Monday in Lagos
The celebration had the theme: “Widows’ Mega Feast.”
Mbanisi said the essence of the event was to celebrate widows and put smiles on their faces during the Christmas celebration.
She said that the foundation had been helping widows and some other indigent members of the society on yearly basis, particularly during Christmas.
“The objective is to celebrate the widows, give them that sense of belonging and put joy on their faces.
“As usual, by the end of every year, we normally bring widows together to celebrate with them.
“In addition to the different categories of food items, fabrics and gifts were distributed to the widows. More than 15 of them also received award prizes of different degrees for their outstanding services to the foundation,” she said.
According to him, the food items distributed include rice, beans, spaghetti, noodles, seasonings and garri.
Mbanisi appreciated the sponsors of the event for their continuous support over the years in ensuring that widows were not left out during festive periods.
Speaking at the event, the guest Speaker, Pastor Basil Apo, urged the widows to be consistent in whatever they do.
She added that consistency was the key to success.
Apo, the lead Pastor of Advertisers of Jesus Church, Abule-Egba Branch, advised the widows to always put their trust in God and desist from wearing sympathetic faces.
“All you need do is to be honest and put your trust in God, who will direct your footsteps.
“Try to identify yourself with a reputable body, be it a Muslim-faith organisation or a Christian-faith like this Healing Heart Foundation, it will go a long way to help you,” he said.
The programme featured award presentations to some members and zones of the foundation for their commitment and outstanding services.
