President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Thursday, sacked the Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, (now Yakubu Gowon University), Aisha Maikudi.
Maikudi was sacked some hours after she presided over a matriculation ceremony in the school.
Controversy had been trailing her appointment as some lecturers had argued that she was occupying the position illegally.
However, Tinubu replaced her with Prof Lar Patricia Manko as Acting Vice Chancellor for a six-month term.
But Manko, it was stressed won’t be eligible to apply for the substantive Vice Chancellor position when it becomes available.
The President also sacked Prof Polycarp Emeka Chigbu as Acting Vice-Chancellor at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).
Chigbu’s tenure was supposed to end on February 14. Tinubu named Prof Oguejiofu T. Ujam as the new Acting Vice Chancellor of UNN.
Similarly, Acting UNN VC would be in office for six months and would not be eligible to apply for the permanent position.
Also, Gen. Ike Nwachukwu was reassigned as Pro-Chancellor of UNN to the University of Uyo. Engineer Olubunmi Kayode Ojo was appointed as the new Pro-Chancellor of UNN. Ojo was previously the pro-Chancellor at the Federal University of Lokoja and the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti. Current Pro-Chancellor of the University of Uyo, Prof Zubairu Tajo Abdullahi was appointed to succeed Ojo at the Federal University of Lokoja.
Tinubu also appointed Senator Sani Stores as the new Pro-Chancellor of Alvan Ikoku University of Education to succeed Senator Joy Emordi. Senator Stores is a Council Member at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
Also, Barrister Olugbenga Kukoyi, a current Council Member at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, has been appointed the new Pro-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Anambra State.
Senator Lanre Tejuoso, currently Pro-Chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, has been appointed Pro-Chancellor of the Yakubu Gowon University. He will be succeeded in Makurdi by Senator Joy Emordi, now pro-chancellor of Alvan Ikoku University of Education.
