From Tom Garba,Yola

In a significant development within Adamawa State’s political landscape, prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and former federal lawmaker, Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election.

‎The announcement came during a lavish Iftar gathering hosted by Namdas at Sinoki Restaurant in Abuja, where he brought together friends, family, political associates, and key stakeholders amid the ongoing Ramadan fast.

‎In his address to the attentive audience, Namdas expressed deep gratitude for their attendance despite the demands of fasting and family iftar traditions.

“I sincerely appreciate your presence here today on such short notice,” he said. “I do not take this for granted and truly appreciate your commitment from the bottom of my heart.”

‎Reflecting on recent consultations with stakeholders in Abuja, Namdas revealed that these discussions had been “collaborative, insightful, and engaging.”

He explained his decision to convene the gathering as a platform to formally inform respected figures of his gubernatorial ambition the same aspiration he pursued in the 2023 election.

‎Drawing on his diverse background as a media practitioner, two-term member of the House of Representatives (representing the Mayo Belwa/Toungo/Jada/Ganye constituency), and expert in security and strategic affairs, Namdas asserted his readiness to lead.

He praised the incumbent Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s achievements in infrastructure, welfare, education, health, and sports efforts recently commended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during project commissions in the state.

‎”I believe a capable leader is needed to consolidate these gains and further advance progress in other sectors, such as agriculture, rural development, and security,” Namdas stated.

‎Highlighting Adamawa’s vast potential, he pointed to the state’s rich mineral deposits including gypsum, limestone, magnesite, kaolin, and bentonite found in areas like Gombi, Guyuk, Numan, Lamurde, Ganye, and Yola South.

He also emphasised its agricultural strengths in cash crops, food crops, and livestock production, describing these as key drivers inspiring his bid to unlock greater prosperity.

‎Namdas described the event not as a manifesto launch but as an opportunity for stakeholders many of whom are seasoned election winners to offer candid advice.

He underscored his alignment with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting his long-standing association with the president dating back to his days in the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) as deputy gubernatorial candidate in 2011, through the APC merger, and his legislative service.

‎Emphasizing governance harmony, he committed to fostering strong ties with the Adamawa State House of Assembly, mirroring the incumbent’s approach and President Tinubu’s effective relationship with the National Assembly.

‎”As an appointee of the President and someone well-versed in the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, I sincerely believe that I can lead Adamawa State to the utmost satisfaction of both its people and the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Namdas affirmed.

‎Concluding with prayers for safe journeys home and renewed calls for guidance, the declaration signals an early but strategic entry into what promises to be a competitive 2027 APC governorship race in Adamawa.

Namdas’ emphasis on continuity, resource harnessing, and federal alignment positions him as a contender focused on building on existing legacies while addressing untapped opportunities in agriculture, minerals, and security.

‎As consultations continue, all eyes are on how this bid will shape the APC’s internal dynamics ahead of the polls.
