President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, in company with his billionaire ally, Femi Otedola, on Tuesday, accompanied the remains of his late uncle, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, from Abu Dhabi to Madinah, where he will be buried.
According to a video shared by one Sanusi Dantata on X, the late Aminu will be buried at the Baqiyya cemetery after the Asr (noon) prayer.
The video clip showed Dangote and Otedola with some Arabian allies and other dignitaries who came to attend the burial ceremony.
Sanusi mentioned that the Janazah (funeral) prayer will be held at the Prophet Mohammed’s mosque.
“Aliko Dangote personally went and escorted the remains of his great-uncle, the late Alh. Aminu Dantata, from Abu Dhabi to Madinah, where he will be buried at the Baqiyya cemetery.
“The body has arrived in Madinah this morning, and the Janazah prayer will be held at the Holy Prophet’s mosque after the Asr prayer (around 1.30pm Nigeria time).
“May Allah have mercy on his soul and grant safe return to the family, friends, and well-wishers who travelled to attend the Janazah in Saud Arabia,” he wrote.
Dantata died early Saturday in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, at the age of 94.
His Principal Private Secretary, Mustapha Junaid, confirmed his death via a Facebook post.
Reports say the late billionaire would be buried in Saudi Arabia, according to his wish.
Muslim clerics held a funeral prayer for Dantata’s corpse in absentia at the Umar bn Khattab mosque, along Zaria Road, Gyadi-gyadi, Kano.
In addition to his business acumen, Dantata served as the Commissioner for Planning and Development in the old Kano State, among other public sector roles.
President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Northern Governors’ Forum, and other prominent Nigerians have mourned Dantata’s death.
