The Dangote Group of Company has tasked Ogun State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA) on the need to always be proactive in preparation of the annual international trade fair.
The Communication Officer of the company, Francis Awowole-Brown gave the task on Friday at a press conference, which heralded commencement of the 14th edition of the Gateway International Trade Fair.
The press conference was organised by the Ogun State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA) and attended by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mrs Kehinde Jokotoye and Director of Commerce, Ministry of Industry Trade and Investment, Deji Sowunmi, among other officials of the Dangote Company.
Awowole-Brown, speaking at the chambers headquarters located at the Moshood Abiola International Trade Fair Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, gave assurance that Dangote Group of Company will continue to partner with the chambers for successful fair.
The spokesperson emphasised that the leadership of the chambers should endeavour to actively reach out to other organisations, particularly those operating in Ogun State for regular participation at the annual fair.
He stated that the chambers leadership should not relent in efforts towards mobilising stakeholders within and outside the country for their participation, as a way to record a robust outing, stressing that preparation for each of the year events should be started earlier enough.
The Dangote Group of Company, however, commended the Ogun State Government for regular support extended to the chambers for the annual trade fair, stressing that it was an encouraging development for all stakeholders
President of the Chambers, Lion Niyi Oshiyemi, earlier in his speech, said the trade fair was organised in collaboration with the Ogun State Government, adding that it has continue to serve as a premier platform for business networking, innovation and investment promotion in the state and beyond.
The Chambers boss added that for over a decade the trade fair has remained a key driver of economic transformation, fostering collaborations among local and international businesses, investors, policy makers and consumers.
“This year’s edition themed, ’Promoting Businesses’ through Partnership’ underscores the vital role of strategic alliances in expanding business opportunities, strengthening industries and boosting economic growth,” he said.
Oshiyemi expressed appreciation to Governor Dapo Abiodun for his unwavering support and commitment to the business community, emphasising that under his leadership the state continues to emerge as an economic power house attracting investments and fostering a conducive environment for enterprises to thrive.
The President equally admitted that over the years Dangote had been a pillar of support for the Gateway International Trade Fair, playing a crucial role in driving industrial growth and economic stability.
“Your remarkable contributions to this fair and to the Nigerian economy at large are highly commendable. In the same vein, your presence here today reaffirms the significance of the Gateway International Trade Fair as a hub for commerce, innovation and economic exchange,” he stated.
“Beyond business engagements, this fair also serve as a melting pot of cultures, ideas and innovations. As we navigate the ever-evolving global economy, it is imperative that we embrace partnerships, technology and sustainable business practices to remain competitive and relevant,” Oshiyemi emphasised.
